VIRTUAL SPECIAL EDITION: Nurses’ Health and Wellbeing

Editor: Lisa McKenna

Despite being one of the most rewarding careers, nursing work presents the individual with many potential physical and psychological challenges. These vary from physical injuries, such as those arising from manual handling and needlestick injuries, to psychological issues such as occupational stress and burnout. For some nurses, issues impacting on their wellbeing ultimately result in them leaving the workforce either permanently or for long periods. Workplaces play an important role in supporting and educating nurses for safe and productive practice.

I am delighted to present the first virtual special edition for Collegian. It consists of a selection of papers published over recent years addressing a variety of issues relating to the health and wellbeing of nurses.
