The core business of the Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA) reflects its mission statement: "promotion and recognition of professional excellence in nursing." RCNA aims to provide the means for all nurses to bring a level of excellence to their nursing practice, whether that be through the education, professional development, information and networking opportunities, or through high level input to health policy. With representation on government committees and health advisory bodies, RCNA is recognised as a key centre of influence in the health policy arena in Australia. RCNA is the Australian member of the International Council of Nurses (ICN), representing Australian nursing to the world. Along with this international affiliation are the close relationships being developed between RCNA and similar nursing organisations throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Australian nursing has much to offer our international neighbours, combining a rich tradition with the leading edge of health technology and research.
